Akuma es un juego de rol de estética manga ambientado en una realidad similar a nuestro presente pero en la que hace cinco milenios unos demonios procedentes de otro universo, los Akuma, atravesaron la Puerta, un poderoso portal entre mundos, para devorar la Tierra. Fue necesario el sacrificio de una antigua civilización para cerrarla pero no sin que una avanzadilla de demonios en su forma espiritual penetrasen y se dispersaran por el mundo. Separados de los Mazoku, sus seis Reyes Demonio, los Akuma buscaron criaturas vivas en las que encarnarse y comenzaron una titánica tarea: reunir la cantidad de almas necesarias para abrir de nuevo la Puerta.
A lo largo de la historia de la Humanidad, los Akuma han estado presentes en muchos de los desastres que nos han acontecido, ya sea provocándolos directa o indirectamente. Han proyectado su sombra tras los Imperios que han surgido o que se han derrumbado, siempre elaborando oscuros planes con los que arrastrar a la Humanidad hacia un sangriento Apocalipsis.
Como podéis ver, el universo de Akuma está plagado de horribles amenazas cuya sombra se proyecta sobre el futuro de la Humanidad. Todos estos adversarios pueden tomar innumerables formas y seguir elaborados planes, siendo cada uno un paso más hacia el precipicio al que desean empujarnos. Y por si fuera poco, tenemos fundadas razones para pensar que hay muchas más cosas ahí fuera, esperando en silencio su oportunidad.
