Tras una oscura década de piratería y pillaje, la Federación Solar ha conseguido localizar la base de los infames Vropt en las inmediaciones de Marte. Con las fuerzas leales dispersas y diezmadas, la misión de exterminar a los piratas ha sido encomendada a una pequeña escuadra de cuatro ases del pilotaje: antiguas leyendas vivientes reconvertidos en cazarrecompensas.

Aunque todos los jugadores estén en el mismo bando y no se puedan atacar entre ellos, Martian Slayers es un juego competitivo en el que nuestro cazarrecompensas intenta llevarse para él las recompensas más jugosas, y el nivel de puteo es alto. Están al orden del día cosas como destruir los objetivos fijados de un aliado para evitar que sus misiles funcionen, dejar con vida al enemigo peligroso para que dispare a nuestro rival más directo, o encender el turbo para intentar recoger un Powerup antes que un compañero. Al final de la partida gana el jugador con más puntos que no haya obtenido un GAME OVER.
